The mission of Milwaukee COMPASS project is to help make public safety problem-solving more strategic, collaborative, and data driven.
In short, COMPASS involves integrating data from City departments and other sources, then making better use of that data to inform decision-making.
It will do so by simultaneously pursuing three related goals:
- Goal 1: COMPASS data is available at the neighborhood level, and neighborhood-level groups are able to use data to set priorities and communicate needs to service delivery agencies.
- Goal 2: COMPASS data is used as a resource by other collaborative initiatives and efforts to evaluate neighborhood-based programs, especially those dealing with disorder and public safety.
- Goal 3: COMPASS data is used as the basis for developing new, collaborative, data-driven safety strategies.
